Japan-Algeria Relations

On August 20, commencing at 1:30 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, H.E. Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting in Yokohama with H.E. Mr. Noureddine OUADAH, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Micro-Enterprises of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, who is visiting Japan to attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9). The summary of the meeting is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister FUJII welcomed the active exchange of high-level visits, following the Japan-Algeria Joint Economic Committee in May and Prime Minister Larbaoui’s visit to Japan for Algeria’s National Day Event of Expo in July. He then expressed his expectation for further revitalization of bilateral economic relations. In response, Minister OUADAH expressed his aspiration to further diversify and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
  2. State Minister FUJII also commended Algeria’s proactive measures to support start-ups and expressed his expectation for further cooperation in this field. Both sides concurred on advancing cooperation in a wide range of areas, including the field of start-ups.
