On April 14, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI Arfiya attended the commemorative reception celebrating Tannat Day, hosted by the Embassy of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in Tokyo. The outline is as follows:

  1. Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI attended the commemorative reception for the Tannat grape variety, which represents Uruguayan wine, and delivered a speech on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the opening remarks by H.E. Ms. Victoria Francolino, Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay to Japan.
  2. In her speech, Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI stated that Japan and Uruguay are strategically important partners who share values and principles, and expressed her desire to further strengthen friendly relations, considering that in two years, 2028 will mark the 120th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Uruguay, and in five years, 2031 will mark the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
  3. In addition to Parliamentary Vice-Minister ERI, many people from both countries attended this reception.
