State Minister MIYAJI gives a speech at the reception commemorating the visit of the President of Peru

On August 7, Mr. MIYAJI Takuma, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Ms. ERI Arfiya, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs, attended the reception commemorating the visit of H.E. Ms. Dina Boluarte, President of the Republic of Peru held in Tokyo, and State Minister Miyaji delivered his remarks on behalf of the Japanese government. The overview is as follows.

  1. The reception was held on the occasion of the visit of the President to Japan. Following the opening remark by the President, Minister Miyaji delivered his remarks.
  2. State Minister Miyaji welcomed the President's visit to Japan and stated that the relations between the two countries have become even closer in recent years, touching upon the fact that Prime Minister Ishiba visited Peru in November last year and held a summit meeting with the President. He also mentioned he would like to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in a wide range of fields based on the strong amicable relations built up over many years, mentioning the approximately 200,000 people of Nikkei (Japanese immigrants and descendants) living in Peru, and also strengthen cooperation in addressing various issues in the regional and international community.
