Japan-Peru Relations

On November 17 commencing at 4:15 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs, who is visiting Peru, held a Japan-Peru Foreign Ministers' Meeting with H.E. Mr. Victor Ricardo Luna, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Peru. The overview of the meeting is as follows. 

  1. In his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Kishida highly appreciated Peru's leadership in strengthening relationships with the Asia-Pacific region, such as the hosting of APEC meetings twice over the past 10 years. 
  2. The two ministers shared the view to work on making the Japan-Peru Summit Meeting scheduled for the next day (November 18) successful and further strengthen the traditional friendly relationship between the two countries. 
  3. The two ministers shared the view to continue with their domestic processes for TPP approval and aim for early entry into force of the TPP in order to promote free trade. 
  4. The two ministers also shared the view to strengthen dialogue on global issues.
