Japan-Ecuador Relations
The 7th Japan-Ecuador Policy Consultation

On July 16, the 7th Japan-Ecuador Policy Consultation was held in Quito from 9:30 a.m. local time (11:30 p.m. on July 16 JST) for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Japanese side was represented by Mr. NOGUCHI Yasushi, Director-General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Ecuadorian side was represented by Mr. Jaime BARBERIS, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility of the Republic of Ecuador.
During the consultation, the two sides had a fruitful exchange of views on bilateral relations, including in the political, economic, development cooperation, and people-to-people exchange fields, and cooperation in the international arena, as well as regional affairs in East Asia, Latin America, Ukraine, and the Middle East. They also concurred on strengthening cooperation in a wide range of areas such as disaster risk reduction, public security, and the environment.
