The 5th Japan-Colombia Policy Consultations

- On July 17, commencing at 10:00 a.m. (local time; 0:00 a.m. on July 18 JST) for approximately two hours and fifteen minutes, the 5th Japan-Colombia Policy Consultations was held in Bogota, Colombia. The Japanese side was represented by Mr. NOGUCHI Yasushi, Director General of the Latin American and Caribbean Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Colombian side was represented by Ms. Nelsy Raquel MUNAR JARAMILLO, Director General for Asia, Africa and Oceania, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Colombia.
- Both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, including the promotion of trade and investment as well as the promotion of cooperation and exchange. They also discussed cooperation in international fora and exchanged views on regional and international affairs, including the situation in Ukraine, the Middle East, East Asia, and Latin America.
- They also shared the view that Japan and Colombia are important partners, sharing values and principles such as freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, and confirmed to further deepen their cooperation in order to further strengthen bilateral relations.
