Japan-Colombia Relations

On April 4, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, conveyed the following message to H.E. Mr. Juan Manuel Santos, President of the Republic of Colombia, on the damage caused by the floods in southern Colombia on April 1 (early hours day local time).

“I am deeply saddened, as a friend of President Santos, by the news of the widespread damage caused by heavy floods in Colombia’s Mocoa City in Putumayo Department. On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences for the deceased and their families, as well as my sympathies for the victims. The Government of Japan is prepared to provide assistance promptly, and I offer my prayers for the earliest possible recovery of the affected areas.”
