Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs HORII by Brazilian Nikkei Politicians

On January 27, Mr. HORII Iwao, State Minister for Foreign Affairs received a courtesy call from four Brazilian Nikkei politicians visiting Japan from Brazil: Mr. Kin Katagiri, Member of the Federal Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Pedro Aihara, Member of the Federal Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Rodrigo Graal Hayashi, São Paulo City Councilor, and Mr. Jorge Hato, São Paulo City Councilor. The overview is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister HORII welcomed the visit to Japan, noting that Brazil is home to the largest Nikkei community in the world and is a Strategic and Global Partner that shares values and principles, and that the relationship between the two countries counts on strong support by the bonds between people. He expressed his honor to welcome young Nikkei politicians from the Nikkei community in Brazil and his confidence that the relationship between Japan and Brazil will become even stronger in the future.
- The Brazilian Nikkei politicians expressed their desire to continue to cherish the bonds between Japan and Latin America and contribute to the expansion of friendly relations between the two countries. A lively exchange of a wide range of views took place regarding Japan-Brazil relations and recent international situations.
