On February 18th, regarding the damage resulting from the floods and landslide in the City of Petropolis, State of Rio de Janeiro, the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, delivered the following message of condolences to H.E. Mr. Jair Bolsonaro, President of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

“I’m deeply saddened by the recent flood and landslide in the City of Petropolis, State of Rio de Janeiro, the Federative Republic of Brazil, which have claimed many precious lives and forced many people to evacuate their homes due to damage. I would like to express my heartfelt sympathy to the government and the people of the Federative Republic of Brazil and also express my heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives and their bereaved families. I pray for the early recovery of those who are affected and the prompt reconstruction of the affected areas.”
