Japan-Panama Relations
Dinner between Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI Arfiya and H.E. Mr. Javier MARTÍNEZ-ACHA, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama

On September 8, commencing at 6:30 p.m. for approximately 120 minutes, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ERI Arfiya hosted a dinner and exchanged views with H.E. Mr. Javier MARTÍNEZ-ACHA, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Panama, who is visiting Japan. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, Vice-Minister Eri stated that she was happy about the success of the recent visit by H.E. Mr. José Raúl Mulino Quintero, President of the Republic of Panama. At the summit meeting, the two leaders were able to concur on strengthening bilateral relations in a wide range of fields, such as the Panama Metro Line-3 Development Project, functional enhancements to the Panama Canal, and the revitalization of political and economic dialogue.
- In response, Foreign Minister Martinez-Acha expressed his appreciation to the Japanese side for ensuring that President Mulino had a productive visit. He also expressed his expectation that bilateral relations would continue to advance at the public and private levels in the future.
- Both sides exchanged views on creating an environment conducive to promoting investment by Japanese companies in Panama and confirmed that they would continue to work closely including in the field of economic relations. Both sides also concurred to strengthen the relationship between Japan and SICA (Central American Integration System) using the opportunity that this year marks the “Japan-SICA Friendship Year.”.
