Courtesy Call on Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary OZAKI by Ms. Mercado, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico

On July 8, commencing at 5:00 p.m. for 25 minutes, Mr. OZAKI Masanao, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from Ms. María Teresa Mercado Pérez, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Mexico.
- At the outset, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary OZAKI stated his expectation to elevate the relationship with Mexico, which is strategic global partner sharing fundamental values and principles, to new heights, cooperating in various fields such as economic relations and economic security. In response, Undersecretary Mercado expressed her expectation of strengthening cooperation toward reinforcing the relationship between the two countries as strategic global partners.
- Also, both sides agreed to work together to further strengthen bilateral relations including promotion of high-level visits, considering the commemorative events such as the 130th anniversary of Japanese immigration to Mexico next year and the 140th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Mexico in 2028.
- Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary OZAKI asked for cooperation in creating a favorable environment for the activities of Japanese companies in Mexico. Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Mercado responded that the presence of Japanese companies in Mexico is important for Mexico as well, and expressed her commitment to working toward strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
