Japan-Mexico Relations

On September 26, commencing at 11:10 a.m. local time (On 27, 0:10 a.m. JST), for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, held a conversation with H.E. Mr. Juan Ramon De LA FUENTE RAMÍREZ, Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States. The overview of the conversation is as follows:

  1. Minister IWAYA stated that it is necessary to strengthen relations between Japan and Mexico which are historically friendly nations and global strategic partners. Secretary De la Fuente expressed his desire to work together for strengthening bilateral relations.
  2. Minister IWAYA and Secretary De la Fuente agreed on especially importance of strengthening economic relations of both countries, under Strengthening of the Economic Partnership (Japan-Mexico EPA) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
