Japan-Honduras Relations

On July 22, Mrs. Akie Abe, the spouse of the Prime Minister of Japan, held talks with Mrs. Ana García de Hernández, the First Lady of the President of the Republic of Honduras, who was visiting Japan.

At the meeting, which was held in a friendly atmosphere, Mrs. Abe expressed her pleasure of being able to welcome Mrs. García de Hernández in Japan in this commemorative year of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Honduras and the Japan –Sica Friendship Year 2015. Mrs. Abe also showed her respect to Mrs. García de Hernández putting great effort into various social welfare activities in Honduras.

Mrs. García de Hernández said that on the occasion of the Overseas Training Cruise of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force stopping at Honduras, she and the President Juan Orlando Hernández greeted the crew of the vessel, appreciating Japan for the long-lasting friendship with Honduras, and expressed her gratitude for activities of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers, in the hope of its continuous dispatch. Mrs. García de Hernández also explained social welfare activities which she and the President Hernández have been engaged, such as anti-poverty programs and girls’ education. They also exchanged views on their common interests such as “society where women shine”, tourism exchange.
