Japan-Dominican Republic Relations

 His Excellency Mr. Luis Rodolfo ABINADER CORONA, President of the Dominican Republic, and First Lady Mrs. ABINADER will conduct a Working Visit to Japan from Friday, March 31 to Wednesday, April 5, 2023.

  1. During their stay in Japan, Mr. KISHIDA Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan, will hold a meeting with President ABINADER and host a working dinner. President ABINADER will also visit Hiroshima.
  2. The Dominican Republic is an important partner that shares fundamental values with Japan, and places high value on democracy and free trade, among others. On the occasion of President ABINADER’s visit to Japan, the two countries will exchange views on further strengthening of bilateral relations and address various global issues in light of the current international situation.
  3. The Government of Japan wishes that the visit by President ABINADER will further deepen the long-standing friendship between the two countries.

This visit by the President ABINADER will be the first visit to Japan by a Dominican president in 17 years, since President Leonel Fernández visited Japan in 2006.
