1. 1st Japan-Costa Rica Policy Consultation
- On July 7 (July 8, JST), the 1st Japan-Costa Rica Policy Consultations took place in San José, the capital of Costa Rica. The Japanese side was represented by Mr. ISHIZE Motoyuki, Assistant Minister and Director-General of Latin America and the Caribbean Affairs Bureau, and the Costa Rican side was represented by Mr. Antonio Alarcón, Director-General for Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship.
- During the consultations, Japan and Costa Rica, as important partners sharing common values and principles, agreed to further strengthen bilateral friendly and cooperative relations across a wide range of fields, including politics, economy and collaboration in international arenas. They also exchanged views from a broad range of perspectives on various issues concerning regional and international affairs.

2. Courtesy Calls on Costa Rican Government Officials
Director-General Ishize also paid courtesy calls on H.E. Dr. Manuel Tovar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Republic, and H.E. Ms. Indiana Trejos, Minister of Trade. Through these courtesy calls, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further promoting bilateral cooperation across various fields amid an increasingly challenging international environment.

In April 2025, on the occasion of the Japan-Costa Rica Foreign Ministers' Meeting, a signing ceremony was held for a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of the Japan-Costa Rica Policy Consultations.
