Japan-Trinidad and Tobago Foreign Ministers’ Telephone Talk

On July 20, commencing at 12:15 p.m. local time (2:15 a.m. on July 21 Japan time) for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who is visiting Jamaica, held a telephone talk with Senator the Hon. Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. The overview of the talk is as follows.
- Minister Motegi expressed his respect for the leadership exerted by Trinidad and Tobago, including in response to COVID-19, such as securing vaccines, as the CARICOM chair country in the first half of this year. Minister Motegi also stated that Japan is implementing grant aid for the provision of medical equipment to four CARICOM countries, including Trinidad and Tobago.
- In response, Minister Browne expressed his gratitude for Japan’s support. The two ministers shared the view to continue to strengthen economic relations, while mentioning the activities of Japanese companies in Trinidad and Tobago.
- The two ministers also discussed cooperation in international fora.
