For many people overseas, their image of Japan is gleaned from history, news reports or the host of high-tech products the country exports, but what is daily life actually like for the average Japanese family? The first half of this program provides an answer, documenting a day in the life of the Ito family of Tokyo. The activities of the various family members are representative of many of their peers throughout the country.
The second half of the program is a wide-ranging introduction to Japan, including geographical features, climate, politics, economics, culture, and international contributions. Information such as this helps fill in the missing pieces to form a complete picture of Japan today.
