The front courtyard of the State Guest House, Akasaka Palace will be open to the public to allow a closer view of the exterior of the Palace.  Akasaka Palace is closely associated with the Imperial Family; originally built as the Crown Prince's residence in 1909, the Palace was a residence of His Majesty the Emperor when he was the Crown Prince.

In the September 2009 issue of the journal Kosei Hogo (rehabilitation), a feature photo story in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of His Majesty's accession to the throne titled "The Imperial Family and Rehabilitation" will be published.
The story will depict how His Majesty the Emperor and other members of the Imperial Family have supported the rehabilitation.  The journal is issued for the purposes of informing and educating volunteer probation officers and other civil society members engaged in the rehabilitation.

Reconstruction of the greenhouse in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Description:
The greenhouse in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, which houses plants associated with the Imperial Family and a few endangered species, will be reconstructed to further preserve and multiply species and educate the public.

Project for sapling-rearing and planting of cherry species in Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden Description:
This project will rear and plant saplings of about 30 cherry species, which characterize Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.  A plate will be attached to indicate the species.

Conservation and Utilization of the "Nasu no Mori (Forest of Nasu)" (tentative name) Description:
The "Nasu no Mori (Forest of Nasu)" (tentative name), a northern part of the grounds of the Nasu Imperial Villa that was transferred to the Ministry of the Environment, will be conserved and utilized to provide opportunities for the public to commune with nature.
Period:
FY2009 - FY2013 (to be partly put to public use from FY2011)
Nature observing events in the "Nasu no Mori (Forest of Nasu)" (tentative name) Description:
The "Nasu no Mori (Forest of Nasu)" (tentative name), a northern part of the grounds of the Nasu Imperial Villa that was transferred to the Ministry of the Environment, will be opened to the public for nature observing events when the color of autumn leaves deepens.
Period: October 31 - November 10, 2009
Commemorative tree-planting around visitor centers in national parks Description:
For this happy occasion, the Ministry will plant native tree species around its visitor centers in national parks and Wildlife centers etc. across Japan.

Full dressing and lamp ornamentation of vessels Description:
The Ministry will dress its vessels fully or decorate them with lamps on the date of the commemorative ceremony and during the subsequent weekend to offer its best wishes on this happy occasion.

Thursday, November 12; Saturday, November 14; and Sunday, November 15, 2009
Publication of commemorative booklets for the Self-Defense Forces' central ceremonies Description:
To offer best wishes on this happy occasion, the Ministry will make entries such as "the 20th Anniversary of His Majesty the Emperor's Accession to the Throne" in booklets published for the Self-Defense Forces' central ceremonies (including a naval review and a music festival)
