Visit to Japan by H.E. Mr. Philemon YANG, President of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly

H.E. Mr. Philemon YANG, President of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, will visit Japan from January 30 to February 4 by ministerial invitation.
- During his visit, Mr. YANG will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru and hold a meeting with Foreign Minister IWAYA Takeshi.
- Marking the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations this year, it is expected that this visit will strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and the United Nations and help further Japan’s efforts for international contributions involving the United Nations in such areas as peace and stability, and sustainable development.

H.E. Mr. Philemon YANG was born in the Republic of Cameroon and served as Prime Minister, among other positions, of the Republic of Cameroon. In June 2024, he was elected as the President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. His term as President of the UN General Assembly runs from September 2024 until September 2025.
