Japan and the United Nations

Mr. KOBE Yasuhiro, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, who is visiting New York, U.S., attended the E10 and I5 Ministerial Dinner on September 23 on behalf of Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs. E10(Elected 10) and I5(Incoming 5)　consist of ten non-permanent members of the Security Council and five Member States slated to be non-permanent members in the following year.
The E10 and I5 Ministers and representatives stressed the importance of the Security Council playing its role in the maintenance of international peace and security and stated that they would continue building trust in the Security Council.

　E10: Japan, Algeria, Ecuador, Guyana, Malta, Mozambique, Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Switzerland

　I5: Denmark, Greece, Pakistan, Panama, Somalia
