Announcement of the commemorative logo for the 70th Anniversary of Japan’s admission to the United Nations

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has selected the commemorative logo for the 70th anniversary of Japan’s admission to the United Nations (UN), following a public competition conducted from February 4 to February 23, 2026 (with a total of 31 entries).
The selected work
- This logo was designed by graphic designer Riho TANAKA.
- The number “7” represents Japan’s path since joining the United Nations and its expanding role in the international community, depicted as reaching toward the future. The “0”features olive leaves, a symbol of peace, representing Japan’s seventy-year history as a UN member state and its ongoing commitment to international cooperation.
- This logo will be used for various commemorative projects to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Japan’s admission to the UN.

On December 18, 1956, eleven years after the founding of the UN in 1945, Japan became the 80th member state of the UN.
