6th Tokyo Global Dialogue


On January 29, Prime Minister ISHIBA attended the 6th Tokyo Global Dialogue, organized by the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA). The overview is as follows.
In his remarks, Prime Minister ISHIBA pointed out that the world is facing severe situations that threaten peace and stability, such as Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, turmoil in the Middle East, and the severe security environment in Northeast Asia including North Korea’s nuclear and missile activities. Under these circumstances, he stated, Japan will make efforts to strengthen the Free and Open Indo-Pacific through enhancing deterrence, further developing the Japan-U.S. Alliance, expanding and deepening cooperation with allies and like-minded countries, and building a multi-layered network of security in the region. Prime Minister ISHIBA further expressed his intention to build a strong relationship of trust and cooperation with the Trump Administration and elevate the Japan-U.S. Alliance to a higher level, as well as work to strengthen coordination with Southeast Asian countries in particular and enhance relationships with neighboring countries.
