  1. Mr. TAKAHASHI Katsuhiko, Ambassador for Arctic Affairs, attended the Arctic Frontiers Conference 2026 held in Tromsø, Norway from February 2nd to 5th, and exchanged views with government officials from various countries. (Note: The Arctic Frontiers Conference is a large-scale international conference bringing together industry, government, and academia, held annually in Tromsø, Norway since 2007. High-level officials from various countries, including the Prime Minister of Norway, participated in this year’s conference.)
  2. Ambassador Takahashi participated in the side event titled “Through the Looking Glass – Non-Arctic States in the Arctic” and the workshop "Norway-Japan Academic Network Seminar," co-hosted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Norway-Japan Academic Network (NJAN). Ambassador Takahashi introduced Japan's international activities in the Arctic, including Japan’s Arctic observatory base in Norway and the upcoming launch of the Arctic research vessel “Mirai II” as well as bilateral academic exchanges between Japan and Norway on the Arctic.
  3. In addition, Ambassador Takahashi exchanged views with H.E. Mr. Høegh, Chair of the Senior Arctic Officials of the Arctic Council, H.E. Ms. Ellertsdóttir, Iceland's Ambassador and Senior Arctic Official, H.E. Mr. Lukk, Estonia's Special Envoy for the Arctic, H.E. Mr. Chung, Ambassador for Polar Affairs of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Ms. Réville, EU Special Envoy for Arctic Matters, and H.E. Mr. Noll, U.S. Senior Arctic Official.
