On April 11, Japan-France Counter-Terrorism Consultations was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. The meeting was the first of the Consultations, since the Foreign Ministers welcomed its launch at the Japan-France Foreign Ministers' Meeting on November 26, 2024.

H.E. Mr. MINAMI Hiroyuki, Representative of the Government of Japan and Ambassador in charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and International Organized Crime, and H.E. Mr. Olivier Caron, Ambassador and Special Envoy for Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime International Strategy of French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs represented the respective delegations.

During the Consultations, both countries confirmed to further promote cooperation on the fight against terrorism both bilaterally and in the international arena, and exchanged views on the global threats of international terrorism, measures to counter terrorism including against the financing of terrorism, and so forth.

Both countries also confirmed that the meeting was meaningful, and concurred to continue the consultations, with a view to holding the next round in France at an appropriate time.
