Japan-Sweden Relations

2018 is the commemorative year that marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Sweden in 1868. Over the years, the two countries have deepened their friendship and built a cooperative relationship in many fields including political, economic, academic and cultural fields. Events to celebrate the 150th anniversary will be splendid opportunities to further deepen and develop the good relationship between Japan and Sweden. The Governments of Japan and Sweden are determined to make efforts may contribute to further deepen the ties between the two countries through such opportunities.

In order to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Sweden, the official joint logo shown above has been created. The logo will be used in both countries for events related to the commemoration of the 150th anniversary.

The official logo is designed using the colors of the Japanese and Swedish national flags as warp and weft, and symbolizes the ties of friendship that the two countries have woven over the 150 years.
The logo was designed by Mr. Akihiko Sawada from Bold Graphic Co.
