Japan-Netherlands Relations
Congratulatory Message from Foreign Minister Kamikawa to Caspar Veldkamp Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands
On July 2, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs, sent a congratulatory letter to H.E. Mr. Caspar VELDKAMP, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, who assumed the office of Minister of Foreign Affairs upon the formation of a new government in the Netherlands.
In the letter, Minister Kamikawa congratulated Minister Veldkamp on his appointment and highlighted that Japan and the Netherlands are friends with a historical relationship spanning over 400 years, as well as strategic partners that share values and principles such as freedom, democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. Minister Kamikawa also conveyed that she would like to elevate the cooperative relationship between the two countries to a higher level without missing the momentum of further invigorating people-to-people exchanges, such as the 425th anniversary of Japan-Netherlands exchanges next year, the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, and the NATO summit meeting in the Netherlands next year.
