On April 24, commencing at 12:10 for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from Mr. Rudmer HEEREMA, Chairman of the Standing Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs of the Second Chamber of the Netherlands, and Members of the Committee. The overview is as follows.

  1. Minister Hayashi welcomed the growing interest in the Indo-Pacific by the Second Chamber of the Netherlands, a strategic partner with which the Japan has a historical relationship of over 400 years and stated that a united response with like-minded countries is more important than ever, confronting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. Furthermore, Minister Hayashi stated that the Netherlands has the largest Japanese investment in Europe and that Japan would like to further strengthen the relationship between two countries, in economic, political and security areas.
  2. Minister Hayashi exchanged views with Chairman HEEREMA and members of the Committee on Japan-Netherlands relations, the situation in East Asia, the situation in Ukraine and other issues.
