On December 15, Ms. YOSHIKAWA Yuumi, Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call from H.E. Dr. Aurelijus ZYKAS, Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. Noting that this year marks the 100th anniversary of friendship between Japan and Lithuania, Ms. Yoshikawa stated that the bilateral relations has been considerably strengthened during this year since the appointment of Ambassador Zykas in May, through the visit to Japan by Foreign Minister H.E. LANDSBERGIS in June as well as the upgrade of the bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership at the occasion of the visit to Japan by Prime Minister H.E. Ms. ŠIMONYTĖ in October.
  2. In response, Ambassador Zykas stated that he would like to take the opportunity of the 100th anniversary of bilateral friendship to further develop the bilateral relations.
  3. They also exchanged the views on regional affairs, and concurred to seek to deepen the bilateral cooperation between Japan and Lithuanias in the international arena.
