Japan-Lithuania Expanded Summit Meeting and Dinner Banquet

On January 13, commencing at 6:15 p.m. (local time; 1:15 a.m. on January 14, Japan time) for approximately 50 minutes, and commencing at 7:45 p.m. for approximately 90 minutes, respectively, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, held an expanded summit meeting attended by Japanese business representatives, and attended a dinner banquet hosted by H.E. Mr. Saulius Skvernelis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania, during his visit to Lithuania. The overview is as follows.
- At the beginning of the expanded summit meeting, Prime Minister Skvernelis welcomed the Japanese economic mission and expressed his expectation that this visit would lead to the further development of economic relations between Japan and Lithuania. In response, Prime Minister Abe stated that Japanese companies were paying their attention to Lithuania as a gateway to the growing Eastern European market, and expressed the intent of the Japanese Government to support business exchanges between the two countries across a broad range of sectors.
- Following this, at the dinner banquet, Prime Minister Abe, referring to relations between Japan and Lithuania growinig through Mr. Chiune Sugihara, called for further cooperation between the two countries, including in the economic area and in personal exchanges.
