Japan-Italy Relations
The first Japan-Italy Politico-Military (PM) Dialogue
On March 7th, the first Japan-Italy Politico-Military (PM) Dialogue was held in Rome, Italy.
The Japanese delegation was led by Mr. NAKAGOME Masashi, Director General, European Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. MIURA Jun, Director General for International Affairs, Bureau of Defense Policy, Ministry of Defense. The Italian delegation was led by Amb. Pasquale FERRARA, Director General for Political Affairs and Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Gen. Enrico Barduani, Deputy Chief of Cabinet and Defence Policy Director.
They exchanged views on a variety of issues, including security and defense cooperation and regional affairs such as the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the situation in East Asia and the Middle East. They concurred to further strengthen cooperation toward realizing a “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).”
