Meeting between Foreign Minister KAMIKAWA and Rt Hon CAMERON, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the UK

On April 18, commencing at 3:40 p.m. (local time; 10:40 p.m. JST) for about 25 minutes, Ms. KAMIKAWA Yoko, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who was visiting Capri, Italy to attend the G7 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, held a meeting with the Rt Hon David CAMERON, Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The overview is as follows.

  1. At the outset, Secretary Cameron mentioned the recent visit by Prime Minister Kishida to the United States, and Minister Kamikawa explained the concrete outcomes of the visit.
  2. In addition, the Ministers welcomed the progress of cooperation between the two countries in the security field, including GCAP. Minister Kamikawa also stated that she was encouraged by the importance that the UK attaches to the Indo-Pacific region demonstrated through activities such as the port visit of the UK Royal Navy patrol vessel HMS SPEY to Japan.
  3. The Ministers also exchanged views on various issues of the international community including the situation in the Middle East, Ukraine and East Asia and concurred to work closely together.
