On March 21, commencing at 0:10 p.m. for about 25 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan, received a courtesy call by the Rt Hon Oliver Dowden CBE MP, Deputy Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Secretary of State in the Cabinet Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who was visiting Japan. The overview is as follows.
- Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi welcomed Deputy Prime Minister Dowden’s visit to Japan, and expressed his gratitude for warm messages of sympathy regarding the damages caused by the recent Noto Peninsula Earthquake. Deputy Prime Minister Dowden stated that he was pleased to visit Japan and that he would like to further deepen the robust bilateral relationship.
- They welcomed the steady progress being made on concrete cooperation in a wide range of areas including economy and security, on the basis of the “Japan-UK Hiroshima Accord” announced by the leaders of both countries. They also exchanged views on cooperation in economic security and cyber, and concurred to continue their collaboration.
