On July 1, commencing at 11:45 a.m., for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. FUJII Hisayuki, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a courtesy call by Mr. Hervé MORIN, President of the Regional Council of Normandy, France, who is currently visiting Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

  1. At the outset, State Minister Fujii welcomed President Morin’s visit to Japan and stated his expectation for further promotion of regional exchanges between Japan and France, based on the good bilateral relationship.
  2. Mentioning that Japanese companies have expanded their presence in the Normandy region, the two sides expressed their hope for further deepening cooperation in the fields of economy and energy.
  3. Finally, the two sides also exchanged views on current challenges facing the international community.
