Japan-France Foreign Ministers’ Informal Talks

On February 20 (local time, February 21 JST), Mr. IWAYA Takeshi, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, during his visit to Johannesburg, South Africa, to attend G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, held informal talks with H.E. Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. The overview of the talks is as follows.
- The two Ministers exchanged views on the situations in the Indo-Pacific including East Asia and Ukraine.
- The two Ministers reaffirmed their shared understanding that the security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific is inseparable, and concurred to continue to cooperate closely to maintain and strengthen a free and open international order based on the rule of law and to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific.
