On August 24, commencing at 6:30 p.m. (local time; 1:30 a.m. on August 25, Japan Time) for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, who was visiting Biarritz, France, to attend the G7 Summit, held a summit meeting with H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic. The overview of the meeting is as follows.

1. Opening Remarks

President Macron renewed his appreciation for the hospitality by Prime Minister Abe during his Official Visit to Japan in June this year. The two leaders shared the view that Japan and France would work closely together regarding various issues at the G7 Summit starting on the very same day.

2. Regional Affairs

The two leaders exchanged views candidly on regional affairs.
