Courtesy Call on Chief Cabinet Secretary HAYASHI by the delegation of the Spain-Japan Parliamentary Group of the Senate of Spain

On June 3, commencing at 4:25 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Mr. HAYASHI Yoshimasa, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call by the delegation of the Spain-Japan Parliamentary Group of the Senate of Spain with the House of Councillors of the National Diet of Japan, headed by its president H.E. Mr. Javier MAROTO ARANZÁBAL, First Vice-president of Senate of the Kingdom of Spain. An overview of the courtesy call is as follows.
- At the outset, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi welcomed the establishment of the Spain-Japan Parliamentary Group of the Senate of Spain and the current visit of their delegation headed by First Vice-president Maroto. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi stated that Spain is a strategic partner of Japan that shares values and principles, and that he expressed his hope that Japan will further develop bilateral relations between Japan and Spain. In response, First Vice-president Maroto stated that he hopes the two countries will work together even more closely.
- Chief Cabinet Secretary Hayashi also asked for continued understanding and cooperation for the immediate resolution of the abductions issue and gained full support from First Vice-president Maroto. The discussion ranged widely across economic issues in detail, taking into account the impact of US tariff measures on the global economy and the multilateral free trade system, and also considered cooperation with NATO.
