On June 18, commencing at 3:00 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ayano KUNIMITSU received a courtesy call from Mr. Yurii Lutovinov, Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU stressed that Japan's position of "standing with Ukraine" remains unwavering, and expressed Japan's wish to continue working together toward the earliest realization of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
  2. State Minister KUNIMITSU also noted that Japan has been steadily supporting Ukraine in the areas of humanitarian assistance, financial support, and recovery and reconstruction, and emphasized that it is encouraging to see Japanese companies increasingly active in Ukraine, adding that Japan will continue to provide an integrated public-private support.
  3. In response, Ambassador LUTOVINOV expressed gratitude for Japan's support and stated his wish to further expand cooperation in the bilateral relationship going forward.
