On May 21, Mr. SHIMADA Tomoaki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the Poland National Constitution Day Reception hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Japan and delivered a speech as a representative of the government of Japan.

  1. In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister SHIMADA stated that Poland has achieved remarkable economic growth and that economic relations of Japan and Poland has been streadily strengthened as evidenced by the presence of approximately 400 branches of Japanese companies operating in Poland.
  2. Parliamentary Vice-Minsiter SHIMADA also mentioned the elevation of the bilateral relationship to “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” during the Prime Minister TUSK’s visit to Japan in April this year. He emphasized the importance of security cooperation with Poland, which has been actively providing support to Ukraine, at a time when the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific are inseparable. He also expressed his intention to further strengthen cooperation across all areas, including politics, economy, and security.
