Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU by H.E. Mr. Zigmārs ZILGALVIS, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Japan

On July 23, commencing at 2:15 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, received a farewell courtesy call by H.E. Mr. Zigmārs ZILGALVIS, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Japan. The overview of the courtesy call is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU expressed her gratitude for Ambassador ZILGALVIS’s contributions during his approximately four-year tenure as Ambassador of Latvia to Japan. She also stated with pleasure that, during his tenure, the Strategic Partnership had been established, the friendly relations between Japan and Latvia had further deepened, and exchanges between the two countries had become even more active.
- State Minister KUNIMITSU also expressed her sincere hope that, even after his departure from Japan, Ambassador ZILGALVIS would continue to contribute to the further development of Japan-Latvia relations as a good friend of Japan and a bridge between the two countries.
- In response, Ambassador ZILGALVIS expressed his appreciation for the development of bilateral relations and for Japan’s efforts in the international community. He also stated his intention to continue contributing to the further development of Japan-Latvia relations.
