Courtesy Call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano by H.E. Mr. Ivan SURKOŠ, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Japan

On May 19, commencing at 16:15 p.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Ivan SURKOŠ, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the outset, State Minister Kunimitsu stated that, amid an increasingly challenging international environment, it is of critical importance to uphold and strengthen a free and open international order based on the rule of law. She further expressed Japan’s desire to strengthen coordination and cooperation with Slovakia, a member of both the EU and NATO, through close communication.
- In response, Ambassador Surkoš referred to the high-level visits to Japan from Slovakia on the occasion of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, and expressed his intention to continue strengthening bilateral relations across a wide range of fields.
- Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on the regional situations, including in the Indo-Pacific.
