The 3rd Intergovernmental Consultation on Cooperation
between Japan and Slovenia in the Field of Science and Technology

The 3rd Intergovernmental Consultation on Cooperation between Japan and Slovenia in the Field of Science and Technology took place on 19th and 20th February in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
- The Intergovernmental Consultation was co-chaired by Mr. KAWAMURA Hiroshi, Ambassador for Science and Technology Cooperation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Dr. Jure GAŠPARIČ, State Secretary at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Slovenia. Representatives from both countries' relevant ministries, agencies, and universities participated both in person and online.
- During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the recent development of national science, technology and innovation policies and held active discussions on current status and future prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields such as robotics, hydrogen, and high-energy accelerator research. The attendees also visited the National Institute of Chemistry and the Jožef Stefan Institute.

Intergovernmental Consultation on Cooperation between Japan and Slovenia in the Field of Science and Technology is held pursuant to the Agreement Between the Government of Japan and the Government of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on Cooperation in the Field of Science and Technology signed in May 1981 (which entered into force in February 1982, and Slovenia succeeded to it in February 1994). The 2nd consultation was most recently held in Tokyo in October 2017.
