Meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs KUNIMITSU Ayano and H.E. Mr. Damjan Jović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia

On February 27, from 2:50 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Damjan Jović, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia during his visit to Japan. The overview is as follows.
- At the outset, State Minister KUNIMITSU welcomed the deepening of exchanges between the two countries through Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and President Vučić’s visit to Japan last year. She also expressed Japan’s intention to firmly build on this momentum and link it to the 145th anniversary of Japan-Serbia friendship next year.
- Additionally, State Minister KUNIMITSU touched upon the Japan-Serbia Investment Agreement signed at the end of last year and expressed her expectations for the expansion of the bilateral economic cooperation, while also stating Japan’s commitment to continue providing strong support for Serbia’s EU accession effortsunder the “Western Balkans Cooperation Initiative”. In response, Minister Jović expressed his appreciation to Japan’s continued support for Serbia.
- Both sides, taking into account the recent severe international situation, exchanged views on regional affairs such as those in East Asia, the Western Balkans, and Ukraine, and confirmed their intention to further strengthen their relations across various fields, including cooperation in international arena.
