On February 17, Mr. SHIMADA Tomoaki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the reception commemorating the Independence Day of Kosovo, which was held in Tokyo, and delivered his remarks on behalf of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Japan. The overview is as follows:

  1. In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Shimada expressed congratulations on Kosovo's Independence Day on February 17, stating that the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries have been steadily progressing in many fields.
  2. Parliamentary Vice-Minister Shimada also stated that Kosovo holds the key to the peace and prosperity of the Western Balkans, which is the core objective of the "Western Balkans Cooperation Initiative," and he looks forward to the further expansion of our friendly exchanges across a wide range of fields, including politics, economy, business, culture, education, and sports.
