On March 24, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, attended the national day reception hosted by the Embassy of Greece in Japan and delivered her remarks. The overview is as follows:

  1. State Minister KUNIMITSU extended her congratulations on the occasion of Greek Independence Day and welcomed the continued active people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, which marked the 125th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024.
  2. State Minister KUNIMITSU also stated that Greece, as the birthplace of democracy, is an important strategic partner of Japan today, sharing common values and principles, and that concrete bilateral cooperation has been steadily progressing in various areas such as maritime security and the economy.
  3. Furthermore, State Minister KUNIMITSU stated that, in the current international situation of heightened uncertainties, cooperation between the two countries is more important than ever, and she is committed to further advancing the friendly bilateral relations.
