On December 4, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, held a working lunch with H.E. Mr. Nikos DENDIAS, Minister of National Defense of the Hellenic Republic, who is visiting Japan at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The overview is as follows;

  1. As the security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific has increasingly become inseparable, the two sides confirmed that Japan and Greece are both maritime nations and strategic partners, and that the importance of both countries working together towards the realization of the free and open international order based on the rule of law and concurred to strengthen cooperation bilaterally and in international arena.
  2. Additionally, the two sides affirmed the continued deepening of Japan-Greece cooperation in the fields of security and defense, as well as the evacuation of Japanese nationals, in light of the current severe international situation.
  3. Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on the regional situations, including in Ukraine, East Asia and the Middle East.
