Exchange of views between State Minister KUNIMITSU and H.E. Ms. KLIAMAKI, Ambassador-designated of the Hellenic Republic to Japan

On May 12, commencing at 5:20 p.m. for approximately 30 minutes, Dr. KUNIMITSU Ayano, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, received a courtesy call from H.E. Ms. Olga KLIAMAKI, Ambassador-designated of the Hellenic Republic to Japan. The overview of the meeting is as follows:

  1. The two sides welcomed the fact that, under a friendship spanning more than 125 years, the areas of cooperation between the two countries cover a wide range of fields including the economy, defense and security, and confirmed that they would continue to strengthen cooperation between Japan and Greece, including people-to-people exchanges.
  2. Additionally, as the security of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific has increasingly become inseparable, the two sides confirmed that Japan and Greece are strategic partners, and the importance of both countries working together towards the realization of the free and open international order based on the rule of law, as well as the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
  3. Furthermore, the two sides exchanged views on the regional situations, including in the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East.
