On April 28, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs SHIMADA Tomoaki attended a reception hosted by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tokyo, on the occasion of German diplomats responsible for Public Diplomacy at German overseas establishments in the Asian region gathering in Tokyo.

  1. At the outset, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Shimada delivered remarks on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the opening remarks by H.E. Ms. Petra Sigmund, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Japan, and Ms. Christina Beinhoff, Director-General for Culture and Society, Federal Foreign Office.
  2. In his remarks, Parliamentary Vice-Minister Shimada stated that it is more important than ever for Japan and Germany, premium partners sharing basic values and principles, to deepen their cooperation in the field of public diplomacy as well and strengthen their bonds at various levels, and expressed his hopes for the further development of Japan-Germany exchanges.
