On September 4, from 3:00 p.m. for approximately 20 minutes, Mr. SATO Kei, Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Mario Vattani, Ambassador of Italy to Japan.

  1. Both sides welcomed the fact that, as the Japan-Italy relationship marks the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, cooperation across a wide range of fields, including defense and security as well as economy, has been making steady progress.
  2. They also concurred to continue working together to further develop the Japan-Italy relationship, which was redefined as a "Special Strategic Partner" during Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's visit to Japan in January this year.
