Japan-Italy Summit Telephone Meeting
November 5, 2025
On November 5, commencing at 7:30 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes , Ms. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, held a telephone meeting with H.E. Ms. Giorgia MELONI, President of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic. The overview of the meeting is as follows:
- At the outset, Prime Minister Meloni extended her congratulations to Prime Minister TAKAICHI on her appointment.
- Prime Minister TAKAICHI stated that cooperation between Japan and Italy is progressing steadily in a wide range of areas, including security and economy, and that she hopes to work closely with Prime Minister Meloni to elevate bilateral relations to even greater heights as next year marks the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
- The two leaders touched on the current international situation and concurred on the need to further strengthen the unity of the G7 and deepen cooperation among like-minded countries to realize a free, open and stable international order.
