On January 9, commencing at 10:30 a.m. for approximately 25 minutes, Mr. KIHARA Minoru, Chief Cabinet Secretary, received a courtesy call from Mr. Jonathan POWELL, National Security Adviser of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, who was visiting Japan. The overview the courtesy call is as follows:

  1. Both sides concurred to further strengthen cooperation between Japan and the UK, an “enhanced global strategic partner” that share fundamental values and strategic interests.
  2. Both sides exchanged views on regional issues including in the Indo-Pacific and the situation in Ukraine and concurred to continue close coordination between the two countries, including in the international arena.
